About Test Fest

In 2010 our Test Fest theme was “LTE”.  Although customer expectation and experiences will always remain a critical focus for the Verizon Wireless Network Device Evaluation Team, with the launch of Long Term Evolution (LTE) in 2010, that focus needs to cover LTE Performance, as well..  The launch of LTE was extremely successful in 117 markets. In order continue to provide the best customer experience through the most reliable network in the country, the Network Device Evaluation team must remain focused on delivering the best 4G experience.  This goal will be accomplished by consistently and methodically Measuring LTE Performance.

Verizon Wireless will lead the way by Measuring of LTE performance during UE-RAN interaction covering the following key aspects:

  • Compliance with clearly defined 3GPP specifications (TS36.xxx series).
  • Stability of DL receiver sensitivity in measuring of RSRP / SINR / RSRQ, taking into consideration of combination of Single/MIMO Antenna reception, potential macro / micro interferences.
  • Stable & proper UE DL CQI / Rank reporting.
  • Accessibility call flow performance that is consistent and comparable to established VzW performance expectations, in setting up of RRC, Attach, EPS Bearer with all VzW offered APN, Service Requests.
  • Consistent inter-RAT behavior, which highly affects user perception of presence & stability of VzW LTE service.
  • Throughput and other associated performances (BLER / Packet Loss / Latency) measure up to VzW KPI testing requirements under specified RF and loading conditions.
  • Properly obey S1/X2 Handover call flow with RAN, and with consistent performance.
  • Properly obey RAN LTE session control timers (i.e. T3402 / T3412), without generating unexpected & wasteful LTE session update activities.
  • Properly obey current and upcoming VzW Data Retry and Band 13 UE requirements, i.e. UL output power & Emission requirements.

Understanding that Verizon Wireless goal is to launch LTE in 175 additional markets by end of 2011, delivering highest quality devices will be crucial to the success of this goal. We, at the Verizon Wireless Device Validation lab, need the support and expertise of all of our device vendors, suppliers, test houses and equipment manufacturers to help bring products to market that exceed not only lab expectation, but Verizon Wireless customer expectations as well.

We recommend attending Test Fest for the full two days, Wednesday, November 2nd and Thursday, November 3rd.   Sessions will begin promptly at 8:15am EST and end at approximately 5:30pm.  The break out sessions will be held on the second day, Thursday, November 3rd and will begin promptly at 1pm EST and end no later than 4pm.

We look forward to seeing you in November.

Our Goals

  • To support the launch and maintenance of the LTE devices and products.
  • To discuss ways to focus on the customer expectations and experiences by measuring and understanding both past and present data.
  • To ensure all out vendor partners understand the Network Device Evaluation Teams expectations and future testing needs
  • To gather feedback from all of our vendors so that:
    • We may find ways to work better together
    • Improve device quality and test coverage
    • Improve time to market

The Verizon Wireless Device Evaluation team wants to ensure all vendors get the most benefit from the conference; therefore, we have some rules that must be adhered to:
  1. Vendors must have a current Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Verizon Wireless and have a valid business reason to attend Test Fest.
  2. Due to fire capacity limits set forth by the facility, companies will be limited in their number of attendees.
  3. Tickets/Name Badges will be sent out prior to Test Fest. No one will be admitted into the seminar without a ticket/name badge.
  4. Registration for Test Fest will be done on-line via this website, which has been setup exclusively for Test Fest. Please refer to the left hand side of the webpage and click on "Registration".  Registration will begin on September 12th, 2011 and will end on October 7th, 2011.
  5. All display tables must be requested via website and will be pre-assigned. One display table per vendor. Space is limited so only sign up for a display table if you are going to use it.

Please Note:  Verizon Wireless CPE Lab reserves the right to limit the number of attendees.
